NEWTON, Kan. — An investigation is underway in Newton involving an exploded device this morning.
Newton Police responded to a report about 5:20 this morning of shots fired in the area of the 1500 block of North Anderson. While no evidence was found at the time, at 10:25 AM a cyclist reported what appeared to be an exploded homemade device in the street.
That led to a closure of Anderson between 15th Street and Terrace Drive, with the street re-opened at about 3 p.m.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office and ATF personnel are on scene along with police and Newton Fire/EMS.
