SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Plans are moving forward for Interfaith Housing and Community Services’ Veteran Housing Project in South Hutchinson, thanks in part to a recent $20,000 donation from Cargill and the Central Kansas Veteran Community Partnership (CKVCP).

A formal check presentation was made on June 14th at the proposed site, 402 S Elm St. in South Hutchinson. The property was acquired from Steve Schowalter.

The donation will help Interfaith to pay for pre-development costs for what will be known as Patriot Place. The housing project will feature 20 one-bedroom units surrounding a 1000-square-foot community room.

Interfaith Housing and Community Services, developed in 1989, seeks to alleviate poverty and build community through housing assistance, financial education and individual empowerment. As a non-profit, much of what the organization is able to accomplish is dependent on donations and community volunteers.

More information about this and other projects and how you can get involved can be found at https://www.interfaithks.org/. Donations to support area veterans can be made at https://ckvcp.org/donate.
