INMAN, Kan. — The Inman Heritage Museum is proud to announce their ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the Inman Harvest Mural on September 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM near the Inman Grain Elevator. This event marks a significant milestone in the celebration of the town’s rich agricultural heritage.
The 108 ft. tall mural, beautifully painted by Kansas-artist, Mindy Allen, of Mindy’s Murals, serves a dual purpose: to honor Inman’s strong history in custom cutting and to celebrate the 150-year anniversary of Turkey Red Wheat, which was brought to the United States by German-Russian immigrants in 1874. This wheat variety has played a pivotal role in Kansas’ agricultural success and helped to grow Inman as the Custom-Cutting Capitol of Kansas, making this mural a powerful tribute to both the past and the present.
Mindy Allen will speak at the ceremony, providing insights into her artistic process and the inspiration behind the mural. The event will also feature guest speaker, Trisha Purdon, Kansas Office of Rural Prosperity Director, and other guest speakers.
“We are thrilled to unveil this mural, which not only celebrates the agricultural roots of Inman but also serves as a symbol of our Inman’s enduring spirit,” said Ron Regehr, Inman Board Member. “This event is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our heritage and to look forward to the continued sharing of our history with all generations.
The ceremony is open to the public.
