MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — Moundridge High School was briefly placed in a “shelter-in-place” protocol Thursday as law enforcement was searching for a suspect in connection with an identity theft case.
Moundridge Police were contracted Oct.17 by Mid Kansas Credit Union regarding a potentially fraudulent loan application, which law enforcement confirmed. This led to contact with an out-of-state person who was unaware they were a victim of identity theft and forgery.
After initially “approving” the application, the suspect came to MKCU to collect the loan and was arrested when they got there. A second person believed to be an accomplice was later arrested in the area of the high school.
The two suspects are facing a total of 16 felony charges including identity theft, forgery, attempted felony theft by deception and making false information.
The McPherson County Sheriff’s office assisted in the investigation.
