McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — A Hutchinson man was killed and another injured early this morning in a crash on I-135 north of the rest area between McPherson and Lindsborg.
The Kansas Highway patrols said a vehicle driven by Bentley Eckhoff, 20, of Hutchinson was southbound on the interstate a mile north of Quivira Road at 5:40 AM when it went off the roadway to the left, after which he overcorrected back onto the road where it rolled multiple times before coming to rest.
A passenger in the vehicle, Joel Guffrey, 19 of Hutchinson, died at the scene. Eckhoff was taken to Salina Regional Health Center with reported minor injuries.
According to KHP, neither person was wearing a seat belt at the time.
