HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Today at 11:36 a.m., Hutchinson Police Department (HPD) received a call from an unknown individual regarding a threat directed at Hutchinson High School. Police and Sheriff Officers responded to Hutchinson High school and set up a perimeter around the school, while school administration enacted their protocols to place the school in lockdown. Out of an abundance of caution, Graber Elementary and the Transitional Learning Center (TLC) went into a secure mode and held recess indoors. HPD searched the entire high school premises. HPD investigation determined there was no credible threat to the school or the public, at which time the lockdown was lifted and school resumed. HPD believes this was a swatting incident and any names associated with the community as a person of interest was not found to be credible. No students at Hutchinson High School were found to be involved with the threat made against the school. Hutchinson Police Department and Hutchinson Public Schools take all threats seriously and appreciates your cooperation during this incident.
