Hutchinson Fire Department Thankful for Cool Wet Weather

SHARE NOW

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson Fire Department would like to thank Mother Nature for her cool, wet weather this week, which has given us a break.  Last week, we were busy with two grass fires that could have been very detrimental to our community.

The first fire was in the area of 56th and Halstead Rd.  This fire had a lot of potential with many downed cedar trees that made it hard for our crews to operate, but a huge thank you to the Hutchinson Public Works and their machines and expertise. This helped mitigate the situation.

The second fire was in the area of 43rd and Lucille Rd.  This fire, our crews jumped in and made an incredible stop, saving houses and property. The one thing these fires have in common is that neither day was a high fire danger day.

We ask that, if you are going to burn, you have a burn permit and check the weather before, during, and after your fire.  Also, if it does get out of hand, please never be afraid to call the Fire Department.  We are here for you.
