HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community Foundation has announced the award of more than $45,000 in grants to five organizations from the November funding cycle of its unrestricted Fund for Reno County.
The largest grant of $15,000 will go to the city of Buhler towards their park improvement plan including development of a handicap accessible path in Becker Park. This grant will be combined with other funding from the Buhler Community Foundation, Heal Reno County and Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Kansas.
A $10,000 grant to the city of Pretty Prairie will support a new pocket park on an empty lot in the business district that would among other things be used for after-school programs at the adjoining library and for community use.
The Sky Riders Performing Arts Foundation will receive $10,000 as they bring back the drum and bugle corps program that was highly respected in the past.
The Grace Arbor Neighborhood and Salvation Army will receive $5,300 for a collaborative project to turn the unused space west of the Salvation Army into an outdoor gathering space and park, and Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Reno County will receive $5,000 to support group activities and cover entry fees for outings throughout the year.
