HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Hutchinson City Hall will close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, so that staff can participate in an active shooter drill in cooperation with Hutchinson Police Department. Employees, who previously attended classroom training to prepare, will engage in a realistic simulation. The public is advised that there will be a visible police presence during the drill.
“This is one of those things that no one really wants to think about, but it is a reality in our society that we have to be prepared,” said City Manager, Kendal Francis. “Just like we encourage other organizations to train their employees and have a plan, it is important that we do the same for our team.”
City Hall will reopen at 8:00 a.m. with regular business hours on Thursday, February 16.
