RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department (HFD) responded to multiple grass fires over the weekend of March 16 – March 17.
Battalion 1 and Brush 71 were requested to Western Reno County on a task force deployment to help with a large fire that got out of control on Saturday.
Saturday evening, HFD went out to East 43rd for a controlled burn that got out of hand and burnt into some trees.
Sunday, the fire department responded again to East 43rd for a controlled burn that flared up from Saturday.
We are not yet out of fire season, as HFD reminds the public, and there is still a need for more moisture. HFD also requests that those doing controlled burns monitor the burns several days after completion.
