Information was handed out about KanQuit and other smoking cessation programs so people who want to quit smoking or know someone who would like to quit could learn about the programs available to them. They could sign a pledge card telling people what they would do instead of smoking. Some pledges were “I’ll go for a walk when I feel like vaping, I’ll talk to my Aunt about KanQuit, and I’ll eat healthy when I feel like smoking.” The Great American Smokeout is a national event held every third Thursday annually in November, sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
