HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation invites the community, business leaders, and Derby enthusiasts to an unforgettable evening of elegance, entertainment, and philanthropy at its luxury fundraising event, Hats & Horses, taking place Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the 1861 Club on the Kansas State Fairgrounds.
Inspired by the excitement and tradition of the Kentucky Derby, Hats & Horses is a luxury fundraising event designed to bring the community together in support of continued improvements to the historic Kansas State Fairgrounds. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund key preservation efforts, including support for projects like Ye Old Mill restoration.
Guests will step into a vibrant Derby atmosphere beginning at 3:00 PM, with activities kicking off at 3:30 PM and continuing through 7:30 PM. The event will feature Mint Juleps, Oaks Lily cocktails, a Derby-inspired menu, and an open bar, along with the Kentucky Derby simulcast live on big screens throughout the venue.
Attendees can expect an engaging lineup of entertainment hosted by celebrity emcees Brityne Rucker and Max Dutton, as well as interactive experiences including:
- Derby-themed games and activities
- Opportunities to bet on favorite horses during the race
- A 50/50-style raffle
- A limited live auction supporting Fairgrounds improvements
A highlight of the evening will be the celebration of Derby fashion and flair. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest attire and participate in lively contests, including Fancy Hats & Fascinators, Derby Belle, Bowties & Southern Style, Derby Couple, and Best Derby Table competitions.
The Foundation is currently seeking sponsors and attendees to help make this event a success. A variety of sponsorship levels are available, including:
- Millionaire’s Row ($5,000) – Exclusive, limited availability featuring premium seating, butler service, a bottle of bourbon, and branded gifts
- Jockey Club Tables ($2,000 for 10 guests)
- Suites ($1,500 for 6 guests)
In addition, individual tickets are now available for $200 per guest, offering a new way for community members to attend and support the cause.
