GREAT BEND, Kan. — The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce hosted a Chamber Coffee and Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, January 8th to welcome the Catholic Charities Golden Harvest Thrift Store at their 2410 Main Street location in Great Bend. The event brought community members together to celebrate a space that blends affordability, service, and local impact.
The Golden Harvest Thrift Store offers a boutique-style shopping experience with great finds at great prices, making it accessible for families throughout the area. With a monthly rotation system and new donations placed on the sales floor as quickly as possible, the store maintains a fresh and seasonal selection that keeps shoppers engaged. Every purchase directly supports Catholic Charities’ programs, including emergency assistance, counseling, housing support, pregnancy and adoption services, and other essential resources for families across southwest Kansas.
The store is supported by a team of staff and volunteers whose combined efforts help serve local families. Community members are encouraged to donate gently used items, knowing that all proceeds stay in this region and strengthen services that support local families. Through each donation and each purchase, residents play an active role in helping their neighbors. Choosing to shop and donate at the Golden Harvest Thrift Store also supports a greener community by reducing waste and keeping quality items out of the landfill, creating a win‑win for families and the environment.
The Golden Harvest Thrift Store is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Donations are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The store is located at 2410 Main Street in Great Bend and can be reached at 620-796-7109.
