GREAT BEND, Kan. — Parents and guardians of USD 428 students in grades 6–12 are invited to an important and eye-opening presentation at Great Bend High School Auditorium, 2027 Morton Street, on Thursday, August 21, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. The program, “Think Before You Post” – The Power of Social Media Tour with national speaker Chet Kuplen, will kick off USD 428’s 2025-2026 school year.
The August 21 event will feature four student assemblies at GBHS during the day, followed by a free evening presentation tailored for parents and guardians of students 6-12th grade. Kuplen will share real-world stories and practical strategies to help families understand the opportunities and risks of today’s social media landscape.
“We are excited to start the 2025-2026 tour in Great Bend,” Kuplen said. “We have worked with principal Brock Funke when he was the principal at Washington County, and are excited to work with him again. This will be an eye-opening and great event for everyone involved.”
Great Bend High School Principal Brock Funke emphasized the importance of this topic for students and their families. “Social media is a powerful tool, but it comes with real consequences and responsibilities,” Funke said. “Chet’s message is timely, relevant, and important for our students and the adults who guide them. We encourage parents of 6th–12th graders to attend.”
This special presentation is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
