HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Sunday afternoon fire heavily damaged a garage in the 700 block of East 6th in Hutchinson.
Hutchinson Fire Division Chief Jesse Martin said the fire was reported at 1:40 PM and the first arriving units found a detached garage involved in fire that was threatening to spread to a nearby residence.
Crews were able to quickly attack the garage fire and keep it from spreading to the residence, which was occupied at the time and is still habitable.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
