GALVA, Kan.  — The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) has announced the final total for the Galva Community Fund Match Week. Through community donations and matching contributions from anonymous supporters, the campaign raised $52,013.17. This brings the Galva Community Fund’s beginning endowment to just over $252,000.

The establishment of the fund as a permanent resource for the Galva community came about with the support of the Baldwin and Warren Families.

At that level, MCCF expects the fund to provide roughly $12,000 in annual grants to support community projects and programs.

With its creation, the Galva Community Fund becomes the sixth community-specific fund in McPherson County. Like others managed by MCCF, it will support local grant applications and fund initiatives that make a lasting impact. Similar community funds have supported projects ranging from youth programming to community beautification.

“The greatest impact of community funds is in their ability to re-invest back into the community year after year and be flexible to meet evolving needs.” Jim Ostlund, MCCF Director of Development said, “With our other community funds we often see projects funded that the public would benefit from like childcare expansion, youth activities or park restoration.”

To ensure that grants made from the fund will address the current needs of Galva, the foundation has selected five community members to serve on the grants committee. This committee will oversee the fund and review and evaluate applications.  Grants recommendations from the committee will ultimately be approved by MCCF’s Board of Directors.

Current Members of the Galva Community Fund Committee:

  • Jeff Collins
  • Fay Hoppes
  • Taryn Huff
  • Jake Struber
  • Shane Williams

“We are thrilled with the initial community support for this new fund and are looking forward to providing grants that will strengthen the Galva Community.” Ostlund said.

MCCF expects the Galva Community Fund to begin accepting grant applications in July 2026, coinciding with the start of the foundation’s fiscal year. Applications will be open to non-profit organizations and community groups. Those interested in grant requirements should contact the foundation at [email protected].
