LARNED, Kan. — Fort Larned USD 495 has announced the hiring of Brian Deterding as the new athletic director and assistant principal at Larned High School.
Deterding comes to LHS from Kiowa County USD 422 in Greensburg, where over the past 12 years he has done a little bit of everything including serving as District Athletic Director and as Junior High and Virtual School Principal.
A Belleville native, Deterding earned his bachelor’s degree in History Education from Fort Hays State University and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Wichita State University.
In a statement from USD 495, Deterding said, “I am most excited about getting to know the staff and students at Larned and working with them to create opportunities for the students to excel.”
Deterding and his wife of 26 years Melanie, have two sons, one who will be a junior at Kansas State University in the Fall and the other starting his freshman year at Fort Hays State.
