NEWTON, Kan. — Five teens are in custody after a shooting incident Wednesday evening at a Newton apartment complex.
Newton Police this morning said this morning one of the teens arrested was the person who was shot. They were taken into custody after being released from a Wichita hospital.
The incident began at the apartments in the 1200 block of East Broadway, with additional crime scenes in near 10th and Oak where the injured teen first fled, and near 2nd and High where a fleeing suspect crashed into a parked car.
In the update police said they have already interviewed many witnesses and are still working to determine the specifics of the incident. Requested charges at this point, depending on specific involvement, range from attempted murder and aggravated robbery to drug and weapons charges.
