HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Fire units responded to a Saturday afternoon structure fire that caused extensive damage to a home in the 400 block of East 7th.
First arriving crews reported black smoke coming from the eaves of the 2 ½ story structure. The house was entered after dispatch advised the occupant was still inside trying to retrieve pets.
Once additional units arrived an aggressive interior attack began with fire found on the first and second floors and attic, with a partial floor collapse in a second floor bedroom
No injuries were reported and the fire remains under investigation.
