Fatal Wreck East of Sterling Sunday Night

RICE COUNTY, Kan. — One person was killed and another injured in a two vehicle crash Sunday in southeast Rice County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said a vehicle driven by Skyler Warren of Great Bend was northbound on K-14 about four miles east of Sterling when it crossed the center line and hit a southbound vehicle driven by Jessalyn Chairez of Hutchinson.

Warren, who the Highway Patrol said was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. Chairez, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with reported serious injuries.

Two juveniles were in the Warren vehicle at the time, no information on their identities or any injuries was reported per KHP policy.
