McPHERSON, Kan. — Charges have been filed against a McPherson man in connection with a Saturday night hit and run northeast of McPherson that claimed the life of Pedeo Amezcua-Gonzalez.

Brice Kasting made his initial appearance in McPherson County District Court Tuesday morning on charges of second degree murder, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, reckless driving, and improper passing of a person on a bicycle.

A 200-thousand-dollar bond was set in this case, with Kasting’s next appearance scheduled for Oct. 6. Kasting currently has a pending DUI case, with the next hearing in that case set for Oct. 25.

Meanwhile a GoFundMe account has been established for the family of Pedro Amezcua-Gonzalez to assist with funeral and other expenses. Information on the fundraiser can be found at Fundraiser by Ivonne Janusz : Funeral and Memorial for Pedro Amezcua-Gonzales (gofundme.com)
