NEWTON, Kan. — A Newton woman was struck and killed Saturday night while she was walking along I-135 in Newton.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said Aubrie-Li Lakey, 22, was walking north in the southbound lanes of the interstate just south of 1st Street when she was hit by an SUV.
Lakey was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the SUV, Aaron Dietz of Wichita, and two passengers escaped injury.
