
ELYRIA, Kan. — Classes will resume Friday at Elyria Christian School after it was closed Thursday due to damage from a wind and hailstorm that came through early Wednesday evening.
ECS Athletic Director Jach Goodrich told Ad Astra News late Thursday afternoon the storm took the roof off the east wing of the main campus building, with damage to an air conditioning unit and gas line reported.
Staff, family and volunteers worked into early Thursday morning to clean up the damage. They have dehumidifiers running in the affected parts of the building as they try to dry things out from the rain that got in.
Wray Roofing also came in to provide was described as a safety net in the event of more rain which is in the forecast. As this point repair plans are still in the works.
Related to this, ECS has changed the location for Saturday night’s Ernie Haase and Signature Sound Concert, which will still be at 5 PM but will now be at Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson.
