Early Project Guidance with Development Review

SHARE NOW

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (January 9, 2026) — The City of Hutchinson now offers Development Review, a service designed to make the development process clearer, more coordinated, and easier to navigate.

Development Review provides an opportunity to meet with City staff early in the development process to talk through a project and better understand applicable requirements before moving forward. Whether you’re exploring a concept, considering a property, or preparing construction plans, these meetings help provide clarity on next steps and expectations.

Meetings are held every other Wednesday afternoon, with three available appointment slots. Each meeting includes staff from Planning, Building, Fire, Public Works and Engineering, allowing questions to be addressed in one coordinated conversation rather than across multiple departments. Topics may include zoning, permits, building standards, fire protection, site access, and infrastructure considerations.

Following the meeting, applicants receive a written summary outlining the guidance discussed. This helps provide a clear reference as projects move forward and supports a more predictable and transparent process.

Development Review reflects the City’s commitment to clear communication and coordinated services while supporting development and investment in Hutchinson.
