An early morning fire today damaged the Ford/Chrysler building at Midway Motors-McPherson
McPherson Deputy Fire Chief Seth Graham said their units were dispatched to the business in the 2000 block of East Kansas at about 2:54 AM, and on arrival crews found smoke showing from and flames coming from the roof.
Additional crews were called in from the Galva, Inman and Moundridge Fire Departments, involving 36 personnel between the departments along with 11 pieces of fire apparatus and four chief vehicles. McPherson Police and EMS along with BPU and Kansas Gas Service also responded.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
Residents in the area reported hearing four explosions, three of which occurred in a short period of time and the other as fire crew were responding.
In a social media post this morning, Midway Motors expressed thanks for support already pouring in from the community and the quick help of the fire department. While the Ford and Chrysler building will be closed until further notice, the McPherson GM store is fully open and operational, and they will be working from there.
