HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson has announced the demolition of the Atrium Hotel and Conference Center to begin on Friday Dec. 6, 2024.
According to a statement provided by the City of Hutchinson, Kansas Concrete LLC will handle the demolition, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2025.
The decision to proceed with the demolition follows a resolution declared on Aug. 20 by the Hutchinson City Council. In the resolution, the property was deemed “unsafe and dangerous” and on Oct. 1, 2024, the City Council voted to continue with the demolition.
The City shared that it will oversee the demolition process. However, it will not take ownership of the property at any point.
“The Atrium Hotel, once a key part of Hutchinson’s hospitality and conference industry, has deteriorated to the point where it no longer meets safety and building standards,” the City of Hutchinson stated. “The City is committed to removing the hazard in an effort to make the community safer.”
