City of Newton Reduces Fireworks Sale Dates

NEWTON, Kan. — Newton City Commissioners have reversed an earlier decision and shortened the dates for sale of fireworks.

At their meeting Tuesday, commissioners agreed to set the fireworks sales July 1-4 rather than starting June 27, as it was in 2025 and was originally proposed.

Setting off fireworks will be allowed from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. July 1-2 and 10 a.m.-midnight July 3-4.

Public input and the relatively low volume of early fireworks sales factored into the change.

The Commission also heard an update on plans for the Rockets and Rails Independence Day Celebration July 3.
