HUTCHINSON, Kan. — On May 8, the City of Hutchinson hosted a public engagement meeting to gather community input on the future of Memorial Hall. More than 200 residents attended the interactive open house at Memorial Hall and shared their thoughts on four primary options under consideration:
- Sell or lease the building to a private developer for adaptive reuse
- Demolish the building and transform the site into a public green space
- Maintain the building as is without major investments
- Other ideas suggested by the public
Community feedback strongly favored preserving Memorial Hall and investing in phased upgrades. Many attendees spoke to the building’s historical and cultural significance and offered thoughtful, creative ideas to increase its use and long-term sustainability.
The City of Hutchinson appreciates everyone who took the time to participate and help shape the important conversation. The summary report captures the range of feedback we received and will help guide City Council’s next steps. The full report, including all raw input data, is now available here.
