McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson City Administrator Nick Gregory announced his resignation at this morning’s City Commission meeting, effective Nov. 10. He is leaving after 14 years to become City Manager in Maize, Kan.

“It’s been a great ride here in McPherson,” Gregory said. “It’s a tremendous community. I work with some tremendous people.”

In his letter of resignation, Gregory said the last 14 years have been extremely rewarding as he has grown as a city leader and community advocate.

Gregory said between now and his final day on the job he will be finishing up housing projects and working with current staff to transition remaining administrative duties and making sure staff and leadership has the information necessary to keep the organization and community moving forward.

Mayor Tom Brown said being a city manager was a long-time goal of Gregory, and he’s been working over the past several months to make this happen.

“We want to wish him well and know that Maize is going to get a good person,” Brown said following the announcement.

Assistant City Administrator and Finance Director Daniela Rivas will serve as interim City Administrator upon Gregory’s departure.
