TOPEKA, Kan. — Acting Chief Justice Eric Rosen signed orders reappointing two members to the Chief Judges Council and appointing a new member to the Commission on Judicial Conduct.
Chief Judges Council
- Reappointed to serve on the Chief Judges Council through December 31, 2028, are:
Chief Judge Grant Bannister, 21st Judicial District. The 21st Judicial District is composed of Clay and Riley counties.
Chief Judge Laura Lewis 16th Judicial District. The 16th Judicial District is composed of Clark, Comanche, Ford, Gray, Kiowa, and Meade counties.
The council gathers input from and communicates information to other chief judges. The council may give recommendations to the Supreme Court when developing policies and making decisions that affect the district courts.
Commission on Judicial Conduct
Chief Judge Daniel Gilligan, 27th Judicial District, was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Robert Fairchild, Lawrence, through June 30, 2027. The 27th Judicial District is Reno County.
The Commission on Judicial Conduct helps the Supreme Court exercise its authority in judicial disciplinary matters under the Kansas Code of Judicial Conduct.
