HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Ad Astra Radio announces the most recent recipient of the Classroom Hero Award presented by Heartland Credit Union.
Carla Goertzen teaches fourth grade at Buhler Grade School in the Buhler USD 313 District.
Each month, Ad Astra Radio honors a different educator, randomly selected from community nominations, to receive the Classroom Hero Award, along with a “thank you” gift basket, courtesy of community partners Heartland Credit Union, Midway Motors of Hutchinson, Stutzman’s Greenhouse, Hutch Putt and The Foto Cowboy.
Mrs. Goertzen is known for her jokes and for always making sure students feel welcomed and connected. Recently, she has had to miss time in the classroom after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. She is home and recovering from surgery.
“It’s especially meaningful to honor a teacher like Carla,” Aaron Napier, VP of Programming and Community for Ad Astra Radio said. “She does so much for her students.”
The Classroom Hero Award seeks to highlight the hard work and dedication of those on the front lines in our local schools. Nominations can be submitted at http://adastraradio.com/classroom-hero.
Included in the photo are Aaron Napier, VP of Programming and Community for Ad Astra Radio, Darren Werth, AVP of Marketing for Heartland Credit Union, and Mrs. Goertzen’s fourth-grade students.
