Mrs. Goertzen is known for her jokes and for always making sure students feel welcomed and connected. Recently, she has had to miss time in the classroom after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. She is home and recovering from surgery.

“It’s especially meaningful to honor a teacher like Carla,” Aaron Napier, VP of Programming and Community for Ad Astra Radio said. “She does so much for her students.”

The Classroom Hero Award seeks to highlight the hard work and dedication of those on the front lines in our local schools. Nominations can be submitted at https://www.adastraradio.com/classroom-hero.
