Projects in Burlington and LeRoy will be sharing in $362,000 in Emergency Historic Asset Lifeline program funding announced Friday by Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland.
These grants are awards to preserve historic buildings in Kansas that could have been lost due to unforeseen events.
Burlington will receive $37,000 for restoration of the Flint Hills Plaza Theatre, once a popular movie house that is envisioned to host films, live performance events, and community meetings.
The $25,000 grant to LeRoy will fund stabilization of the historic 1908 Brownfield Building that will be housing a community grocery store.
Other grants were awarded for projects in Howard, Meriden, and Stockton.
