HUTCHINSON, Kan. — On Friday, August 16th, Buhler USD 313, Simpson Construction Services, and Landmark Architects proudly announces the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Ad Astra Academies building, a state-of-the-art facility designed to support the rapid growth and success of the Ad Astra Virtual Academy and Ad Astra Alternative Academy.
Originally established in 2021, the Ad Astra Virtual Academy has quickly grown to include over 150 students, creating a need for additional and dedicated space. The program’s expansion has also led to the creation of the Ad Astra Alternative Academy, further underscoring the necessity for a facility that meets the unique needs of these students and staff.
The mission of the Ad Astra Virtual Academy is to provide an exceptional, innovative, technology-based education that prepares students for colleges, careers, and the global community. The new building is a testament to this mission, offering a dynamic environment where students can thrive.
Key updates to the 4,723 square foot renovation of the Ad Astra Academies building include:
- Secure Entry: Enhanced security features to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
- Renovated Offices and Classrooms: Modernized spaces designed to foster collaboration and effective learning.
- Student Breakout Areas: Flexible spaces for group activities and collaborative projects.
- New HVAC: Upgraded heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to improve air quality throughout the building.
- Updated Restrooms and Kitchen: Refreshed amenities to support the daily needs of students and staff.
