BUHLER, Kan. — The Buhler Frolic is an annual event where people make good memories each year, and the community comes together. At the Buhler Frolic, the weather was perfect, and a pleasant atmosphere and laughter prevailed. The day kicked off with a pancake feed breakfast. Then, a bit later, there was the parade down Main Street—the parade along with the middle school and high school bands. Firefighters, police and many businesses participated in the parade as well.
The smell of good fair food was in the air, and the Frolic was bustling with people. Numerous vendors were offering a wide range of items for sale. Some vendors provided fresh-squeezed lemonade, while others featured baked goods, such as sourdough bread, and one vendor sold crochet items. Other vendors had arts and crafts for sale, and a variety of items were also available for purchase.
The variety of food and drinks to choose from was abundant. There were funnel cakes, Pronto Pups, stir fry, HTeaO, coffee, fresh-squeezed lemonade, snow cones, and many other options. A good portion of people at the Frolic said the Pronto Pup was their favorite fair food, and they look forward to it each year. The Buhler Frolic is an event for all ages, from kids to parents to grandparents.
Some members of the Buhler community have been attending for a long time, while others are new to this area or are new to it altogether. Whether people have been coming for a long time or are entirely new to this, the Frolic has fun for all ages.
“I’ve been coming for about 8 years,” Amanda Maxwell, who is a resident of Buhler, said. “That’s when we moved to Buhler.”
The Frolic has something everyone will enjoy, and there is something fun to do for everyone. Kids and adults love different aspects of it.
“We love the double parade and the kids love to be just able to hang out and enjoy the inflatables,” Maxwell said.
The Buhler Frolic is truly a family affair, and daughters and moms of all ages come to this event. Mona Broomfield, a resident of Buhler, came with her daughter and sister. For most people who come to the Frolic, food is their favorite part, especially the Pronto Pups.
Because of the tight-knit community, there’s “a sense of small town spirit,” Broomfield said.
When you come to the Frolic, it’s not hard to see the community come together. People are talking to one another and are very supportive of each other, applauding every aspect of the parade and the participating organizations.
People have been coming to the Frolic for a long time, making it a cherished community tradition.
“I’ve been coming my whole life,” Kari McDaniel, a resident of Buhler, said. “I can remember 2nd and 3rd grade as the earliest time attending this.” McDaniel hopes to pass this tradition on down to her kids, and she hopes they will make great memories like she did.
The Buhler Frolic is a truly unforgettable event. Several generations come together, and people and families have lots of fun, making great memories. There is a lot to do at the event, and it’s something people look forward to every year. Whether it’s the food or the parade, people come from all over and make a significant impact in the community. It’s a small town with a mighty, good, local spirit and has a sense of belonging for everyone.
