McPHERSON, Kan. – Chelan David, the author of the newly released book, “Stories From the Phog – Forty Years of Kansas Basketball,” will host a presentation in McPherson on Sunday, Dec. 7.
The McPherson Public Library will host the event, but it will be held at the McPherson Community Building, the former home of the McPherson Globe Refiners basketball team. The stop in McPherson is part of a statewide tour spanning from November 2025 to March 2026. The book, released in October 2025, highlights a 40-year journey of Kansas Basketball, written by Lawrence native Chelan David, who calls the book a “must-read for any KU basketball fan.”
Beginning with a foreword from Brian Hanni, the current Voice of the Jayhawks, the book retells tales from the unveiling of the “Beware of the Phog” banner, the 150-point game against Kentucky, thrilling comebacks against Missouri in 2012 and West Virginia in 2017, and much more. According to the McPherson Public Library, the book captures the magic and tradition of KU Basketball and Allen Fieldhouse over the years.
The presentation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on December 7, and is open to all ages. CLICK HERE to learn more about the event and the book.
