Apartment Complex Fire in Hutchinson Saturday Afternoon

HUTCHINSON, Kan.  — One person received minor injuries in a Saturday afternoon fire at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Sierra Parkway in Hutchinson.

Hutchinson Fire units were called out at 1:35 PM and on arrival found heavy smoke pushing out the eaves of a two-story structure with four units. The fire was traced to the attic area. One person was located in one of the non-involved units and was treated on scene by EMS.

Moderate damage was reported to one apartment, water damage to another and two others had minor smoke damage. All four apartments are uninhabitable, and the Red Cross was called in to assist the residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
