HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce the recipient of this month’s Classroom Hero Award, presented by Heartland Credit Union.
Wiley Elementary School 4th Grade teacher Tiffany Pacey was presented the Classroom Hero Award on Thursday, Nov. 20.
Each month, Ad Astra Radio honors a different educator, selected from community nominations, to receive the Classroom Hero Award, along with a “hero” gift basket, courtesy of community partners Heartland Credit Union, Midway Motors of Hutchinson, Stutzman’s Greenhouse, Hutch Putt and The Foto Cowboy.
Mrs. Pacey has been teaching at Wiley Elementary School for three years. Overall, she has taught for a total of 14 years. She studied at Central Christian College of Kansas and McPherson College.
“Our son was born with dyslexia and struggled with reading, and I just wanted to help him,” Pacey said. “Then I found myself doing all this research and the next thing I knew, I wanted to be a teacher.”
The kids are the main reason Mrs. Pacey enjoys teaching.
“I love it that they’re independent, and they’re starting to get creative and ask good questions,” Pacey said.
In a Classroom Hero Award nomination, Mrs. Pacey was described as someone who “brings joy and engagement into the classroom each and every day.”
“She builds relationships with students and creates a classroom environment that feels like a family,” the nominator added. “There are high expectations for learning that include a focus on the whole child. You’ll see students smiling and literally ‘walking fast’ to get to her room each morning! If you want to know what engagement looks like, stop by her classroom any day of the week!”
The Classroom Hero Award seeks to highlight the hard work and dedication of those on the front lines of our local schools. Nominations can be submitted at https://www.adastraradio.com/classroomhero/.
