IOLA, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is excited to announce Brayton Lind, from Gridley, Kan., as Sports Director and Account Executive in Iola.
In addition, Lind will also become the new voice of the Iola High School Mustangs and Allen Community College Red Devils.
“I’m looking forward to growing as a broadcaster, building relationships in the communities we serve and gaining experience in all areas of the radio industry,” Lind said.
What first sparked Lind’s interest in sports broadcasting was filling in his dad’s shoes doing Public Address (PA) announcing for his alma mater, Southern Coffey County High School, which he did for about three years.
In 2024, Lind interned with Ad Astra Radio while attending Allen Community College. At that time, he provided commentary for Iola and Allen CC basketball games.
“Interning with Ad Astra lit the lightbulb in my head and showed me that I truly love broadcasting sports,” Lind said.
Chris Shank, Ad Astra Radio President and Chief Executive Officer shared his excitement for Lind joining the Ad Astra Radio family and believes the SEK customers and listeners are going to enjoy working with him.
“We strive to be ‘Your Hometown Radio Stations’ and ‘Everything local’ with lots of local content on our airwaves and websites,” Shank said. “Brayton’s addition to the team will help our stations accomplish both.”
Shank added, “The future of local radio is bright when you have young talent with ideas, energy, and enthusiasm. Brayton has all three and we’re excited and blessed to have him join us at Ad Astra Radio.”
Lind is currently attending Pittsburg State University majoring in communications with an emphasis in media production and also minoring in music. He plans to graduate in December 2026.
Lind is most excited to cover basketball for the Iola area teams, although he loves all sports.
In his free time, Lind enjoys golfing and watching sports with his buddies. Professional teams he cheers on are the Denver Nuggets, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals.
Join Ad Astra Radio in welcoming Lind back to the Iola community and listen for his coverage of area sports on 99.3/1370 KIOL and 101.5 KIKS this fall.
