30th Judicial District Nominating Commission to Select New Judge for Kingman County

TOPEKA, Kan. — The 30th Judicial District Nominating Commission will interview nominees at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6 to fill a district magistrate judge vacancy in Kingman County.

The nominee selected to fill the vacant position will be replacing District Magistrate Judge Ronald Sylvester, who is retiring on April 30. 

Nominees

  • Roseanna Mathis, Kingman, title assistant, Security 1st Title, and retired district magistrate judge, 30th Judicial District
  • Joshua Wright, Bel Aire, assistant public defender, Reno County Public Defender Office

Interviews are open to the public and will take place at The Hangar, 126 N. Main St., Kingman, KS.

To be eligible as a district magistrate judge, nominees must be: 

  • a resident of Kingman County at the time of taking office and while holding office;
  • a graduate of a high school, a secondary school, or the equivalent; and
  • either a lawyer admitted to practice in Kansas or able to pass an examination given by the Supreme Court to become certified within 18 months.
