HUTCHINSON, Kan. (May 29, 2025) – At 7:47 PM the Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 7000 Blk of North Lorraine for a reported structure fire. While enroute it was reported that the occupants were not in the house, but several dogs were still in the structure. First arriving crews found a small single-family residence with smoke coming from the front door and fire coming from the rear of the residence. Crews initiated aggressive fire attack through the front door and started a search for other possible occupants and the pets. Rural water supply operations were initiated due to the location of the fire being in a non-hydranted area. A quick knock down of the fire occurred and the 3 dogs were removed, special lifesaving equipment for small animals was utilized by on scene crews, but sadly all 3 dogs succumbed to their injuries.

No injuries have been reported. One occupant received assistance from the American Red Cross, the home experienced severe smoke and fire damage throughout.  At this time the fire is still under investigation by the Hutchinson Fire Department Fire Marshalls office.

The Hutchinson Fire Department would like to thank the following for their assistance; Reno County EMS, Reno County Fire Districts 3 & 5, Kansas Gas Service, Evergy, Hutchinson-Reno County Emergency Communications, Reno County Sheriff’s Office and the Red Cross
