Details Released on Pedestrian Struck and Killed by a Train Last Week in Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson Police Department (HPD) has released information on a pedestrian hit by a train last week.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, March 24, officers were dispatched to the railroad tracks west of 2nd Ave and N. Monroe St for the report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a train. They located a male victim lying next to the tracks.

35-year-old Oluwatomisin Elelu was transported by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and eventually to Wesley Medical Center in  Wichita for treatment of his injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses and video evidence confirm that Elelu was walking on the tracks prior to being struck. According to HPD, foul play is not suspected.

The accident remains under investigation.
