Bulldog Softball Splits at Sterling

STERLING, Kan. (macbulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs won the first game of the doubleheader 10-3 Wednesday (Mar. 29) to split with the Sterling College Warriors in Sterling, Kan.

The Bulldogs’ offense was clicking on all cylinders in the opener, scoring ten runs on 13 hits, including doubles by Mackenzie Egan and Alyvia Quintana.

Lacy Weaver put the Bulldogs on top early with a sacrifice fly to right field, then Amber Wood singled home Lauren Skinner. Kassidy New came around later to score after reaching on a walk.

The Warriors matched with three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Bulldogs were just getting started. Another RBI single by Wood brought Egan and Weaver home to make it a 5-3 Bulldog lead in the third.

An RBI single by Skinner and an RBI double by Quintana put the Bulldogs on top 8-3, then Alexandrea Garcia singled to score Quintana. Kaitlyn Sarsfield rounded out the scoring with a groundball to second base, bringing in Garcia.

Raegan Kleppe was dialed in, throwing seven innings with five strikeouts.

The nightcap was only slightly different, as the Bulldogs had seven hits, but was unable to score.

Jordyn Johnson got the call in the circle in game two, and struck out four batters.

The Bulldogs return home for a weekend doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 1) against Bethany College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
