ANDOVER, Kan. – For the second straight meet, the Bullpup Swim team finished second, recording several new best times trailing only Andover in the team standings.
The team of Adyson Wiens, Gracy Hubbard, Clarea Williams and Danica Brunk became state qualifiers in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:05.5. Brunk also punched her ticket to state in the 50 and 100 Freestyle.
Bree Pickerell and Claire Schmidt earned state consideration times, Pickerell was 3rd in the 200 IM, and Schmidt finished 6th in the 100 breaststroke. Clarea Williams was 9th in the breastroke Head Coach Angela Brunk noted, “This was a very competitive meet and the girls swam well. Placing second to only Andover, the team who won state swim last year, felt really good.”
Other notable finishes came from Bree Pickerell and Gracy Hubbard, as they finished 4th and 5th in the 100 backstroke, separated by .8 seconds. Adrian Lockard followed behind by less than a second for a 7th place finish.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Adrien Lockard, Claire Schmidt, Bree Pickerell, and Gracy Hubbard as they finished 5th. Olivia Bengston would take 6th in the 200 freestyle, and was also part of the relay team that included Clarea Williams, Adyson Wiens, and Danica Brunk finishing 2nd.
The Bullpup Swimmers will have the rest of the week off before traveling to Salina next Thursday for their next meet, which is set for 3 p.m.
