Ann M. Kepley
1933-2026

Annie Mabel Kepley was born in a dugout in Western Kansas on January 6, 1933, at 12:20 a.m. Her father went to get the doctor, but when they returned Annie was already born.

Annie's family returned to the Flint Hills near Hamilton, Kansas, in 1935. She attended Ruweda School and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1950.

Ann worked in Eureka and later Fort Scott, where she met Floyd Jesse Bower at a skating rink. They were married on her birthday, January 6, 1957, in the Humboldt First Baptist Church, where her grandparents were members. They had two children, Annette June born October 31, 1959, and Floyd Earl born October 18, 1963.

The family moved to Humboldt in 1969, where Ann joined the First Baptist Church and remained a faithful and active member until her death.

Ann's first husband died October 22, 1974. She married Ralph Kepley on May 4, 1979. Ralph passed away on September 19, 1984.

Ann took driver's education at the high school around 1980, obtaining her first driver's license in her late 40s.

Ann will be remembered for her love of music, serving as the church pianist for many years. She loved the Lawrence Welk Show, Wheel of Fortune (She solved the last puzzle three days before her death.), Scrabble, her daily devotional reading, her daily walks, and bright pink nail polish.

In her last days, she said, "I've had a long, good life."

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Jay R. and Mildred Laverne (Long) Hollis; two sisters, Rosalie Garrison, Nell Taylor, and brother, Marvin Hollis.

Ann is survived by her children, Annette J. Williamson, Floyd E. Bower; her grandchildren, Abigail Williamson, Trina (Mark) Peterson, Jesse (Beth) Bower; her sister, Frances Brewer; her brother, Ralph (Connie) Hollis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
