Bulldogs Sweep Saint Mary for 16th Consecutive Win

Leavenworth, Kansas – The No. 5 nationally-ranked McPherson Bulldogs Volleyball team swept the University of Saint Mary for their 16th straight win. The Bulldogs are now 22-8 all-time against the Spires.

How it Happened
McPherson entered tonight’s match riding a 15-match win streak with no plans of slowing down. The first set was the closest of the night, with both teams trading scoring runs until the Bulldogs would pull away for a 25-21 win. McPherson took control quickly in the second set, jumping out to a quick 6-1 lead thanks to two kills each from Lily Gray and Havana Olander. The Spires would go on a short run to cut the Bulldogs’ advantage to 19-16, but McPherson would hang on for a 25-18 victory. The third and final set started closer, but the Bulldogs would quickly find their rhythm to win 25-13 and extend their win streak.

Havana Olander led the Bulldogs offensively with a career-high 16 kills, followed by Enya Fierens with 11 and Tori Buss with eight. Tabor Scanlon recorded 20 assists while Roxana Varela Parra added 17. Defensively, McPherson was led by Isabella Calle with 17 digs. The Bulldogs hit .281 on the night while the Spires had a hitting percentage of .118.
