Junior quarterback Logan Birkenbaugh threw for five touchdowns, and ran for two more, accounting for seven of Kingman’s nine touchdowns, as the Kingman Eagles topped the Ellinwood Eagles on the road 63-14, keeping Kingman’s record perfect at 5-0.
The score was 20-8 with Kingman leading late in the second Quarter, when Birkenbaugh threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jaxson Campbell with 13 seconds left.
Kingman’s senior place kicker Trent Clark went a perfect 9 for 9 on extra-point tries. Ellinwood’s junior wide receiver Kellen Behnke collected two receiving touchdowns. The first was a 77-yarder that came on a big fourth-down play right as the first quarter clock expired. Behnke’s second receiving touchdown came late in the fourth quarter from 15 yards out, and that was the final scoring by either team on homecoming night in Ellinwood.
