McPherson County commissioners are holding off on a proposed regulation that would limit infrasound and low-frequency noise in rural areas.
The proposal would set strict limits on sound levels from new or expanded operations. But the McPherson Board of Public Utilities says the rules could block planned power-plant upgrades and drive up electric rates.
The county health officer also says more evidence and public input are needed. Commissioners took no action Monday and want to hear from acoustic experts before moving forward.
