In a matchup between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in Class 1A, Deryn Maxwell rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns as Sterling beat Inman 35-12 on Friday.
Sterling rushed for 273 yards, while Landon Aguilera returned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown to help the Black Bears build a 21-6 halftime lead.
Inman quarterback Malachi Brunk threw for 148 yards and a touchdown, with Korbyn McClellan catching three passes for 92 yards, including a 48-yard score.
Inman pulled within 21-12 in the fourth quarter before Maxwell broke a 48-yard touchdown run as Sterling scored the final 14 points. Sterling improved to 3-0 and travels to Sedgwick next week, while Inman fell to 2-1 and will face Trinity Catholic.
