Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Buhler High School senior Corbin Starkweather, as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College.
The week – Starkweather dominated the Wamego Invitational on Friday, winning the 5000-meter race in a time of 19 minutes, 6.88 seconds. She won by nearly 20 seconds and was just one of four runners to break 20 minutes. The closest Class 4A competitor was nearly 40 seconds behind Starkweather.
The season – Starkweather, a senior, has turned into one of the state’s top distance runners. She owns Buhler’s school records in the 5000 meters, 3200 and 1600. She was the 4A 3200 state track champion in May, and is coming off a third-place finish at state cross country as a junior.
