The KU Marching Band is on the move this season. After performing during halftime at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chief’s win over Denver, forty members of the band that boasts 400 student musicians – are now winging their way to London’s Wembley Stadium.

Smoky Valley High alum and pre-med student at the University of Kansas, Lauren Dolezal says the band put a lot of work in this summer to get ready for the quick turn around. “It’s been fun and we love playing for the crowd!”

Dolezal has been working a week ahead on her class assignments and added she even got the grass mowed at her duplex in Lawrence before the big trip.

The alto sax player said they will practice with Arizona State’s marching band for a combined halftime performance as the Jayhawks take on the Sun Devils for an 11am CT kickoff in a stadium that seats 90,000.

The Jayhawks are 1-1 as they prepare for the the inaugural college football game in England’s “Union Jack Classic.”
